Improved Profile Management and Localization
We are happy to announce that version 1.4.0 of the AGON SDK has been released.
We have done a lot of work on the whole profile management and the sign up process and we really think both developers and end-users will like the new non-intrusive flow. No big splashes at startup. No forcing of players to signup. We let the players decide when to go online!
We have also done some work on making it easier to discover your friends from other networks and streamlined the UI in general to minimize waiting time when talking to the server.
Developers can now also get AGON in other languages as the library is now localized!
So download the SDK and check it out!
Cloud Storage, Multiple Profiles and Full Unity Support
It has been a while since our last release, but there is a good reason for that: this release (1.3) is packed with goodies for developers and an even smoother experience for the players.
Cloud Storage and Data Synchronization
We are proud to announce this new cool feature that allows game developers to store players’ save games in the cloud: no more lost save games – ever. Everything is automatically synchronized and works seamlessly with another industry first:
Multiple Profiles and Advanced User Management
The iPod Touch™ comprises about 40% of combined Apple iPhone™ and iPod Touch devices out there. iPod Touch owners are younger, play more games and share their devices more often. To enable this demographics to enjoy their games fully, we have come up with a slick, quick profile switch feature that allows device sharing with separate, personal high scores, achievements and stored save games. Full offline support is naturally maintained at all times.
Industry Leading Unity Support
We now support both Unity Basic and Unity Professional with an industry leading, automated installer. Making your iPhone Unity game social is now easier than ever.
Without further ado, please enjoy the video presentation of these new features:
SIME Rising Stars of the North Nomination
We are very proud to be nominated for the Rising Stars of the North Awards at SIME 2009! The nomination is for creating the quality social platform for iPhone games that we all know as AGON Online.

Progress and GDC Europe in Cologne
AGON Online is doing great and there are now nearly 350 registered developers and almost 40 games on the App Store! We are working hard on completing the next major features, which will be internationalization, localization (to ~5 major languages) and improved user management. It will soon be possible to switch between multiple users on a single device as well as the ability for a user to log into more than one device – and doing this in more than one language. These features have been requested by the developers of some very popular games lined up for release / update with AGON integration over the coming weeks. Next up is focus on community, cross promotion, discovery and UI refinement. We also have one or two nice surprises up our sleeves, so watch this space..!
Köln is the German name for the fine city in which GDC Europe will be held. We will be there to meet up with all the über cool European game developers. To meet us – send us an email, Tweet, carrier pigeon or message in a bottle! See you there!
Landscape UI and Twitter Integration
We are very proud to announce that the latest release of AGON Online adds full support for landscape UI as well as the much asked for Twitter integration to compliment our existing Facebook social messaging feature.
In addition to those larger features, we have been doing UI polish, implemented a new profile view that allows descriptive text for each of the profile settings, added support for setting your first location directly from the ‘nearby’ leaderboards and lots more!
We have put together a short explosive video introducing some of the new features in 1.2 – check out the video here:
